Tanya's father had a stroke yesterday afternoon. He is currently in the hospital here, and only partially able to communicate.

Based on my visit with last evening; it is my belief that he is fine mentally, but cannot (at this time) control his speech or movement.

He could sure use your prayers.

2 - wow... that's got to be one of the toughest things - for a loved one to suffer a stroke or other health issue that impairs communication. Please keep us all updated.

STATUS UPDATE from Tanya:

We just returned from the hospital, feeling much better than yesterday. Dad recognizes us and was more awake and aware today. A speech therapist came in and did some exercises with him - we learned a lot about his communication abilities. He is able to answer very simple yes/no questions again (that was gone yesterday, but seemed to come back today). He can sometimes verbalize, but mostly he was gesturing or nodding. The prognosis is the same, with no expectation of full recovery and lots of risk from complications. BUT, we are so happy that he can communicate with us, even in this slight and limited way. This is definitely a roller-coaster ride for all of us and is full of lots of changes minute-by-minute.
